Healthcare Assistant Job Description
Healthcare Assistants are required in a wide variety of care settings, such as Residential Care Homes, Nursing Homes, Hospitals and Supported Living properties, as well as in people’s own homes.
Depending on the working environment, you should be prepared to do all or some of the following:
Job Outline:
- Work within a team or individually, in a formal setting or in a person’s home.
- Support residents/service users/patients with all daily activities in accordance with their individual care plans
- Promote independence and respect their dignity and choices at all times
- Be flexible in your attitude to working hours; care is required 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, therefore carers are always needed!
- Receive and take part in regular supervision and training to develop own skills
- Assist in maintaining care records that reflect current needs and preferences for each resident/service user/patient
- Work in line with company policies and procedures
Requirements:
The majority, if not all, vacancies will require the following from you:
- Previous experience in a similar job role – not always essential, but is preferable, as are relevant qualifications such as QCF (formerly NVQ) Level 2 in Health & Social Care
- Applicants must have a desire to care for others and be compassionate and flexible
- Applicants should have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team or individually as needed
